Adam Kahana is graduating with a BFA in jazz studies, a BSc in computer science, a BS in data science, and a minor in business. During his time at SMTD, Adam was a member of Miles Okazaki’s guitar studio, and played guitar for the University of Michigan Jazz Ensemble. In 2017, he performed as the guitarist of the University of Michigan Bicentennial Jazz Orchestra, featuring guest artist Gary Burton. In 2018, as part of a performance at that year’s Detroit Jazz Festival honoring the late University of Michigan professor Geri Allen, Adam performed and conducted an arrangement of her composition “Feed the Fire” for dectet. Adam has also had his arrangements performed by the University of Michigan Jazz Lab Ensemble as part of their concerts. In addition to his guitar studies, Adam was a member of the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club under Dr. Eugene Rogers, where he sang Tenor I. He was also a member of the BlueNote Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
