Aislinn Gail Bailie
Aislinn Gail Bailie is a bassoonist originally from Poughkeepsie, New York, currently residing in Ypsilanti, Michigan while completing her master’s degree in bassoon performance. Aislinn is dedicated to growing a diverse and cross-disciplinary arts community. She is a founder of A Humming Under My Feet, an annual genre-bending concert series that is dedicated to the performance and premieres of works by living non-cis male identifying composers in Nashville, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Music from the Blair School at Vanderbilt University. At the University of Michigan, Aislinn has participated in the Contemporary Directions Ensemble, traveled to London as part of EXCEL’s Trinity Laban program, was featured in new improvisatory works in the dance department through DanceChamberDance, and has recorded new compositions including a piece featured in the Collection Ensemble at the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA). Aislinn would like to thank her teacher, Dr. Jeffrey Lyman, as well as her mom, dad, Emma, and Bran for all of the support and encouragement along the way. Next year, Aislinn is moving to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to teach and play bassoon, and experience a new and exciting adventure!
