Alicia Samson is a performer and creator originally from Novi, Michigan. She is a fifth year student working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance as well as a Bachelor of Science Engineering in Chemical Engineering. During her time at the University of Michigan, she has performed in works by Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Jennifer Harge, Ohad Naharin, Sandra Torijano, and Alex and Xan. Her own choreography has been presented at the University of Michigan’s Hill Auditorium, the Power Center for the Performing Arts, and Necto Nightclub. Alicia wants to integrate her life into her art because the two inform each other. Using experiences from life as a motivating force for her movement allows her to create with deeper meaning, and the process of creating informs the way she moves through the world.
