Born and raised in New York City, Carly Cooper dreamed of attending Michigan for as long as she can remember. She is honored to graduate with a Bachelor of Theatre Arts with a minor in playwriting. At Michigan, she participated in a number of student productions and organizations including Basement Arts and Rude Mechanicals. She is grateful for the support she has found at SMTD, which has allowed her opportunities such as studying abroad in London at RADA and developing a new play under the 2021 Playfest.
Carly extends her sincerest gratitude to her professors, who have continuously provided her with guidance and challenged her, and her friends and classmates, who she is thankful to have had the privilege of collaborating with and learning from. Carly hopes to continue exploring the intersection of her interests in performing, writing, and new works development when she returns home to New York. Finally, she would like to thank her parents for always being her biggest supporters, without which, none of this would have been possible.
