Daniel Kumapayi

Daniel Kumapayi graduated with a bachelor’s in music education from University of Michigan in December 2020. He currently teaches K-8 music in Chicago, IL at Brentano Math & Science Academy. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria and immigrated to the US when he was five. As a music educator, Daniel wishes to support his community back home. In March 2020, he founded an organization called Àkójọpọ̀ focused on creating accessible means for musicians in Nigeria to pursue their artistic visions. Outside of his daily work, he enjoys anime, calisthenics, and Nigerian food.
