JoAna Rusche has pursued a wide variety of teaching and research interests during her doctoral degree. In 2019, she attended the Mysore Summer Music Program, led by Prof. Stephen Rush, as a recipient of an International Institute Student Fellowship. As part of this program, she studied Carnatic vocal music for one month in Mysore, India. Also, as a voice student of Dr. Louise Toppin, JoAna has studied and performed a diverse collection repertoire, including a self-directed performance of Francis Poulenc’s one-woman opera, La voix humaine. In conjunction with her DMA, JoAna will graduate this summer with her AmSAT Alexander Technique teacher certification from Alexander Technique Ann Arbor, led by Jane Heirich. JoAna holds a BM in vocal and piano performance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MM in vocal performance from University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
